2018 International AAR Clearance Table Top Exercise (TTE)
13-14 March, Brussels, BEL
This two-day intensive training familiarizes attendees with official international refuelling clearance guidance and directives. Clearances are bi-lateral or multi-lateral agreements which must be in place for tanker and receiver aircraft from different nations to conduct in-flight refuelling. TTE is interactive, mixing instruction, discussion and practical exercises that challenge attendees to validate reality-based pairings for a fictional mission. Last year’s event resulted in new clearances for Alliance and EU assets, better understanding of the process, and a revamp of process guide documents. TTE 2018 is JAPCC-led but supported by many international organizations including NATO HQ International Staff-Defence Investment (IS-DI) and the European Defence Agency (EDA).
TTE 2017 hosted 74 attendees from 16 NATO nations and EU Member States and 46 organizations from the tactical to strategic level. We again invite personnel from all levels of AAR to gain better knowledge of the clearance process in order to decrease time and money necessary to get clearances and schedule assets during operations. From manufacturer to operator, unit scheduler to headquarters document manager and beyond, this event is for ANYONE IN THE BUSINESS OF TESTING, SCHEDULING, APPROVING and FLYING AAR.
Academic cost will be €45 payable cash on arrival. Icebreaker attendance is optional. Price is €32 for a traditional Belgian four-course meal not including beverages. Those who choose to join will pay for themselves at the restaurant.
An academic article including lessons identified at the 2017 TTE can be found at https://www.japcc.org/better-together/ and a Food For Thought Paper on AAR by NATO HQ IS-DI, JAPCC and EDA can be found here.
