JAPCC at the ‘Unmanned Vehicles VI’ Conference
Bonn, 5 July 2017. The JAPCC participated in the “Unmanned Vehicles VI” conference, organized by the German Association for Armament Technology (DWT) and held in Bonn, Germany from 4 to 5 July 2017. On the first day the JAPCC’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) presented the findings of the recently released JAPCC study on the legal and ethical implications of increasing automation of future unmanned systems. (available here) The topic gained a lot of interest and sparked interesting discussions about the future role of autonomy in military applications. These discussions continued at the JAPCC booth where the conference participants, to include military, industry as well as academia, had the opportunity for personal and more in-depth dialogue with our SMEs about the topic.
