Maritime Air Coordination Conference
Northwood, 23 May 2017. The JAPCC attended the Maritime Air Coordination Conference hosted by Commander Maritime Air NATO in Northwood UK. As co-chair of the MACC, the JAPCC offers expertise on air operations as it relates to enhancing component integration at the Operational level. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Air Maritime Integration for Delivering Joint Effect’ and focused on sea-based striking power as an enabler of joint air operations. The JAPCC provided a presentation on the challenges facing both NATO Components when operating in and under advanced layered defense systems, as well as observations regarding component integration stemming from JAPCC’s five years serving as Red Air during Joint Level certification exercises. Other presentations included challenges NATO should address to rapidly and fully integrate the sea-based F-35B into joint air operations, as well as aircraft carrier operations updates from the UK and France. The JAPCC looks forward to hosting the next MACC in the spring of 2018 at our homeport in Kalkar.
