Protection Against Terrorist Threats Policy and Allied Command Operations Force Protection Directive Drafting Workshop
Kalkar, 23 June 2017. 19-23 June 2017, the JAPCC hosted the first of up to three drafting workshops under the auspices of the NATO Force Protection Working Group, Doctrine, Organisation and Interoperability Panel; a Panel that the JAPCC chairs. The workshop was split into two equal parts. The Policy part of the workshop managed to complete in excess of 50% of the work required to review NATO’s Policy on protection against terrorist threats (C-M(2002)50). This work is being conducted in partnership with the NATO Office of Security and at the current rate of progress, should see a fully revised document ready to present to NATO’s Security Committee by the end of 2017. The second part of the week saw a complete review of Allied Command Operations’ Force Protection Directive undertaken. The output of this session will see AD 80-25 completely revised and re-issued by SHAPE before the end of the year. The next Policy Workshop is scheduled for 2-6 October 2017, again at the JAPCC.
