French Armed Forces Biomedical Research Institute

Sami Mecheri is a research scientist in the Neurosciences and Cognitive Sciences Department at the French Armed Forces Biomedical Research Institute (IRBA). He is a member of a NATO Science & Technology Organisation panel, where he contributes to collaborative research on cognitive training for military personnel. He holds a PhD in Human Movement Sciences from the University of Rouen, France. Before joining IRBA, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory for Road Operations, Perception, Simulators, and Simulation at IFSTTAR, France, and as an engineer in the Perception, Action, and Adaptation Team at University of Caen Normandy, France. Dr Mecheri has also taught experimental and cognitive psychology at the University of Rouen. His research focuses on cognitive control and perceptual-cognitive skills that underpin demanding actions involved in military contexts, elite sports performance, and perceptual-motor adaptation to complex virtual environments.
