Joint Air Power Competence Centre (2016-2019)

Colonel Edwin Markie, Jr. (USA AF) is an Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) and Air Transport (AT) Subject Matter Expert (SME) assigned to NATO’s Joint Air Power Competence Centre in Kalkar, Germany. Prior to arriving at the JAPCC, he was Commander of the 321st Air Mobility Operations Squadron providing theatre-level command and control (C2). Colonel Markie brings more than 20 years of experience in air transport and air-to-air refuelling operations, instruction, and staff operations. Colonel Markie is the Chairman of NATO’s Air Refuelling Working Group and member of the Global Air-to-Air Refuelling Strategy (GAS) Team. He has also contributed to air transport studies, initiatives, and training courses. Colonel Markie earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and his M.S. in Aeronautical Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
